  • Overview

    Join our innovative Creative Lab to help create and promote user-centered design that is intuitive, usable, and modern. Our interactive team is a group of designers and researchers working closely with the content strategist, front-end developers, and executive creative director. 

     

    In this role, you will take high-profile marketing web apps from research and strategic planning all the way through to deployment and launch. Our ideal candidate is a skilled problem solver and communicator who is excited to deliver amazing user experiences and visual design that defines and further evolves the Esri brand.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Create innovative, refined, and mobile-first UX/UI deliverables that can range from user experience wireframes to high-fidelity interface designs of our tactical marketing applications
    • Collaborate with agile cross-functional team members including stakeholders, project managers, writers, and developers
    • Identify the target audience, user stories, and use-cases based on project briefs, user interviews, and market research
    • Develop personas, user journeys, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, proof-of-concepts, and interactive prototypes
    • Present and defend designs, research, and deliverables to peers and stakeholders
    • Provide specs and assets to developers and work closely with them throughout the development process
    • Conduct peer reviews, gather usability feedback, and provide QA reviews
    • Participate in usability testing, scenario writing, moderating, and observing studies on both prototypes and released applications
    • Serve as a brand steward, ensuring visual consistency and promoting design unity across multiple projects and marketing campaigns

    Portfolio Submission:


    Please include a link to your online portfolio or samples of recent work. Samples must demonstrate design skills and a mix of low fidelity and high fidelity UX deliverables.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in user experience and/or visual design with web-based applications
    • In-depth knowledge and abilities in Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Invision, and related design tools
    • Ability to lead and direct the design of an interactive project, from concept through development
    • Expert knowledge of user-centered design and research principles
    • Data visualization, infographic, and related visual communication skills
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex ideas understandable and demonstrate passion for your work
    • Organized, able to think beyond what is asked for, and able to multi-task projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, often evolving environment (even if it’s always sunny outside)
    • Bachelor’s in graphic design, visual communication design, human factors, interaction design, or a related design discipline

    Recommended Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of GIS and designing map-based applications are a really BIG plus
    • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other front-end technologies
    • Previous work experience in an agile development environment (Scrum or other agile workflow training or certifications are a plus)
    • Proficient skills with design software including Sketch, Invision, and/or Abstract
    • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) including AEM Sites
    • Be personally motivated, a progressive thinker, and an all-around team player
    • Believe that all ideas are good (or at least worth considering)
