As a developer on our Example Apps team, you will focus on designing, developing, testing, and documenting new applications that communicate to other developers how to make amazing Android apps with Esri technology.     Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and test functionality for the latest Android apps
    • Build great quality example apps, samples, and toolkits using the latest platform technologies and features
    • Be an Android advocate within the company and at conferences; help us grow Android development capability throughout Esri and the developer communities
    • Attend and speak at Esri conferences and other industry conferences; evangelize our products in the user community through presentations, hackathons, webinars, forums, blogs, and social media
    • Identify issues and improve code quality, including clear and meaningful documentation
    • Work with customers to help them successfully deploy apps using the best patterns and practices
    • Implement unit tests and automate regression testing to ensure baseline quality in all releases
    • Collaborate with Esri developers to further expand our products and help to define the product roadmap

    Requirements

    • An Android enthusiast and a game changer
    • 2+ years of commercial software development experience
    • You're anxious to learn but you’ve got these things covered:
      • Developing on the Android platform
      • Object oriented design skills
      • Data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
      • Mobile development issues related to resource limitations, performance optimization, and caching
    • Expert knowledge of Android Java or Kotlin, Android Studio, Gradle, Android platform API, and Android’s core location frameworks
    • Experience building compelling, responsive, and intuitive mobile user experiences
    • Able to work on a team to build quality software in an evolving environment
    • Strong time management, prioritization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field, depending on position level

    Recommended Qualifications:

    • Prior experience building spatial/mapping applications or software components
    • Knowledge or experience with indoor position systems, e.g., Wifi-based, iOS indoor navigation, etc.
    • At least one publicly available application on the Google Play Store, relevant software projects shared publicly such as on GitHub, blogs, or other websites
    • Experience with open source libraries
    • Understanding of 3D, GIS, CAD, and AR
    • Hands-on experience with data communication via REST, HTTP, TCP, WebSocket
    • Hands-on experience with web security, e.g., OAuth2, Active Directory
