    As the Community Outreach Manager, you will join the open platform team and promote Esri’s initiatives related to interoperability and standards compliance. You will serve as the liaison between Esri and various technical standards organizations and other domain-related standards organizations (transportation, maritime, aeronautics, etc.). In addition to maintaining an effective relationship with these organizations, you will help with communicating Esri’s open platform vision to the many organizations and individual users who value the benefits that an open platform strategy provides. It will be a challenging opportunity allowing you to experience, understand and promote the full breadth of the Esri technology stack.

    Responsibilities:

    • Communicate Esri’s vision for initiatives related to open platform, focusing specifically on interoperability and standards compliance
    • Engage with team members regularly to stay current on technology trends related to interoperability and standards compliance
    • Create and execute a comprehensive marketing/communications strategy
    • Continuously research standards support and compliance data and make recommendations on how to further advance Esri’s open platform  
    • Serve as the liaison between Esri and the many organizations related to standards and interoperability, such as OGC, ISO, FGDC, W3C, and IHO
    • Develop content (e.g., webinars, case studies, collateral, social media programs, web, and event plans) that drive awareness, demand, and highlight Esri’s commitment to open and drive the execution and release of the content

    Requirements

    • Prior experience interacting with geospatial standards organizations such as the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), ISO-TC211, and FGDC at an influencer level
    • Proven capability to make compelling, effective presentations to large and small audiences
    • Proven and demonstrated capability to communicate in writing
    • Demonstrated thought leadership and contributions to professional organizations
    • Proven ability to collaborate, communicate, and influence audiences across organizations and/or multi-disciplinary audiences
    • Bachelor's or master's in business, GIS, or related field, depending on position level

    Recommended Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in GIS
    • Prior experience as a community advocate in a technology-related field
    • Experience with open source philosophy, patterns, and technology landscape
    • A good understanding of the GIS marketplace
    • Ability to keep up with new technology trends happening within the geospatial domain
