  • Overview

    Our Scene Layers team focuses on allowing users to quickly share scalable 3D content and use it in all ArcGIS apps such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, and ArcGIS Earth. They work to quickly build and grow new functionality around the open, OGC-standard I3S specification, allowing our users to do more with their data at each release and unleash The Science of Where™ in all three glorious dimensions!

    In this role, you will help Esri users share, visualize, collaborate on, and enhance their 3D content on the ArcGIS platform. You’ll be involved in every step of the release life cycle, from planning and design to implementation, testing, and documentation. You will work with developers and other product engineers and across product teams to evaluate new functionality, triage and investigate customer issues, tweak automated tests in various harnesses, and even code new test fixtures to help us build a better ArcGIS platform.

    Responsibilities:

    • Learn existing product technologies and troubleshoot production issues in current and past software platform versions
    • Collaborate with development programmers and product engineers to build and test functionality for current and future 3D scene layers
    • Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to work on new UI designs for scene layers in ArcGIS Pro
    • Test and document scene layers technology for use by other Esri development teams
    • Build and maintain test scenarios that validate ArcGIS scene layers technology
    • Research and analyze customer requests, industry standards, and specifications to establish and define requirements and translate them into new software design

    Requirements

    • Knowledge of the software development process and experience using an application development language (such as C++, Java, C#, or Python)
    • Analytical problem-solving ability
    • Good organizational skills
    • Ability to collaborate with others
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Bachelor’s in cartography, geography, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, depending on position level

    Recommended Qualifications:

    • Working knowledge of computer graphics APIs such as DirectX and OpenGL
    • Working knowledge of web GIS technologies such as JSON, REST, and JavaScript
    • Familiarity with Esri ArcGIS platform technologies
