    Blend your passion for writing and an interest in technology to advance the software documentation for ArcGIS apps including Collector for ArcGIS, Explorer for ArcGIS, and Workforce for ArcGIS. These apps broaden the power of location to improve coordination and achieve operational efficiencies in field workforce activities.


    In producing great documentation, you'll have a hand in walking our users through the process--from office to field--to allow them to complete their mobile workflows, improve visibility into the operational aspects of their organization, reduce issues caused from stale data, and empower personnel with information needed to perform tasks while on the move. You will study design documents, interact with developers, and test software.


    • Write conceptual topics and step-by-step tutorials to help users be successful 
    • Define and organize help documentation 
    • Evolve software product designs by turning specifications and design documents into early drafts of the documentation
    • Collaborate with development teams to build new capabilities and support workflows
    • Engage with the GIS community through blogs or written lessons to highlight key workflows and best practices 

    More experienced individuals will:

    • Understand customer workflows and author documentation on advanced topics
    • Participate in defining the product roadmap
    • Provide help resource leadership by working with other internal teams, such as marketing or product management, to ensure our product is reaching customers with the right message and level of detail, as well as work with the doc framework team to ensure updates are deployed effectively


    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
    • Passion and ability to make a difference
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • An understanding of ArcGIS products and online services
    • Bachelor’s or master’s in GIS, computer science, technical writing, or a related field, depending on position level

    Recommended Qualifications:

    • Extensive experience with ArcGIS software or other geospatial technology
    • Industry experience writing software documentation or technical blogs
