  • Overview

    This position provides an opportunity to lead an internationally-respected, dynamic, and active team responsible for implementing a national environmental monitoring system. This system aims to establish, build, and maintain a comprehensive geo-environmental database along with an enterprise level GIS system for access, update, and analysis of the environmental data. The system will integrate nationwide real-time monitoring systems for marine, air, land, and subsurface environments into a nationwide decision support system focused on the human and environmental health of the nation.

    You will be expected to work with national and international scientific and management organisations to define and implement the system. Travel, both domestic and overseas, is to be expected. You will have responsibility for leading a large team to design, develop, implement, and maintain the ArcGIS platform that will form the backbone of the system.

    You will work closely with our customers, distributors, and partners in the Middle East. The goal is to make them successful by promoting the latest best practices in ArcGIS platform implementations. You will be part of a team that will serve the Esri community with platform configuration and project support in a dynamic and exciting environment.


    • Effectively manage complex technology projects and programs: Use your consulting and project management skills to lead virtual teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment. Manage scope, schedule, and budget to provide our customers and strategic partners with meaningful solutions.
    • Be a thought leader: Advise customers regarding innovative solutions using Esri technology and content to help them make better decisions. Recommend relevant strategies, architectures, and solutions and work with customers to prepare implementation and migration strategies. Provide strategic direction for project teams.
    • Engage with our customers: Discover the value of location within customer workflows and drive substantial return on their investment in our platform and services by creating outstanding proposals and winning work with strategic customers.
    • Develop and grow business: Provide business development support toward technology and implementation patterns with new and existing customers. Collaborate with Esri’s practice managers and marketing and sales teams to develop new business and be part of actively shaping the future of national and local government through your work on cutting-edge projects and technology trends such as smart community (city), real-time GIS, big data analytics, geoanalytics, geodesign, 3D, and open data.


    • 10+ years of professional experience in GIS or IT
    • 5+ years of professional experience in GIS project management and/or GIS consultancy
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget
    • Experience developing project designs, work plans, budgets, and schedules
    • Strong understanding of the ArcGIS platform and how it relates to national and local government customers
    • Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to learn—you must thrive in a dynamic cross-functional team environment
    • Ability to consult and engage with executive level leadership
    • Ability to engage, collaborate, and facilitate with national and local government customers and external teams and stakeholders such as NGOs, universities, startups
    • Proposal writing experience, including preparing executive summaries, solution definition, scope of services, staffing, and pricing
    • Ability to secure visas for travel within the Middle East and Africa; ability and willingness to travel within these areas
    • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills (English and Arabic required); submission of TOEFL scores is encouraged
    • Bachelor’s or master’s in geography, computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field
