Gain an understanding of the diverse legal needs that a software company has in conducting both domestic and international business. This is a great opportunity to apply the legal theory you've learned in the classroom.


Work alongside team members as you support in-house legal research and writing efforts. These initiatives are both domestic and international in scope and include:

  • Intellectual property
  • Licensing
  • Real estate
  • Transactional business agreements
  • Legal matters that arise in software company environment

Program Timeline

  • Applications Accepted: September 1–December 31, 2017 at 5:00 pm PST
  • Interviews: Students selected for phone interviews will be notified by email on a rolling basis October 2017–January 2018
  • Internship: 12 weeks starting in late May or June

  • Currently enrolled second year (day) or third year (night) law students who have completed courses in the following subject areas: contracts, torts, corporations/business associations, business planning, international law, international business transactions, M&A, securities, intellectual property, licensing, patent prosecution or litigation, computer law, Internet law, privacy law, and/or export control law
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2018
  • Able to complete a 12-week internship beginning in May or June 2018

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the high-tech industry including computer software, hardware, and geospatial data
