Are you familiar with acronyms such as MISB, FMV, WAMI, and KLV? Do you have a strong interest in drones, video, and high performance image processing analytics? If so, Esri is looking for you! Apply your remote sensing or computer science background and experience to help our Software Products team build and deploy Esri motion imagery technologies.


In this role, you will work with development and product engineer leads in designing, creating, and engineering software to support the rapid growth of video sources coming from airborne platforms including drones. This is an exciting opportunity to focus on how motion imagery can be used across many GIS industries including defense and intelligence.



  • Design and test motion imagery capabilities for Esri’s flagship GIS application, ArcGIS Pro
  • Work closely with account managers and software developers to understand US DoD and intelligence community client requirements; help formulate appropriate motion imagery solutions for various defense and intelligence scenarios
  • Collaborate with software developers to help build new software and plan for future releases
  • Help test new motion imagery user experiences, workflows, and analytics using customer data
  • Help develop the future roadmap for motion imagery and commercial drones
  • Support technology demonstrations for industry events such as GEOINT 
  • Act as a technical point of contact for defense and intelligence industry partners and integrators to ensure Esri interoperability


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 5+ years of remote sensing, image processing, photogrammetry, and image analysis experience
  • 5+ years of GIS and ArcGIS product experience
  • 5+ years of engineering experience working on COTS or GOTS software products
  • US citizenship and ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in computer science, geography, remote sensing, or related field

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Experience in the defense and/or intelligence communities
  • Familiarity with the NITF format and specification 
  • Familiarity with Full Motion Video and UAVs 
  • Familiarity with MISB and/or KLV
  • Experience writing technical user documentation or technical developer documentation
  • Experience designing modern web sites and/or pages
