    Join Esri to help create user-centric technology that is usable, useful, and compelling. You’ll develop strategies to assist user experience architects, interface designers, marketing managers, and product owners gain research-based insights into user needs, behaviors, and pain points.


    Our Creative Lab Interactive Team is a group of UX/UI/icon designers working closely with the Executive Creative Director. Our job is to help promote and advance Esri’s platform of apps and solutions and its incredible work around the world.


    • Design and execute a research program that informs and validates designs of B2B websites, web-based applications, native apps, and desktop and enterprise software
    • Partner with marketing and product teams to identify research opportunities and goals, develop compelling research agendas, define audience characteristics, and recruit study participants
    • Conduct research using a variety of high-level and in-depth qualitative methods such as moderated and remote usability studies, contextual inquiries, heuristic evaluations, expert reviews, and a subset of quantitative techniques such as surveys and unmoderated usability tests
    • Communicate results to stakeholders with actionable insights that fuel ideation and evaluate designs
    • Collaborate with UX architects, designers, developers, project stakeholders, and content strategists to remediate issues identified in research
    • Engage in generative and evaluative research, helping us stay innovative for future design solutions and initiatives
    • Help expand our culture of research-driven decision making, enabling the minds of colleagues across the organization through training and collaboration
    • Manage the research schedule and equipment
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on usability and qualitative user research methods and ethics


    • 5+ years of experience leading applied qualitative research initiatives
    • Expert knowledge of design and content strategy best practices for the web and beyond
    • Experience researching and designing for general public and international audiences, including those with disabilities
    • Familiarity with product development methodologies, such as Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum
    • Command of a broad set of user-centered design methods and qualitative research techniques
    • Demonstrated ability to test on desktop, mobile, and web and an understanding of the challenges and best practices of conducting research on each platform
    • Experience communicating with internal stakeholders, product managers, marketing managers, designers and engineers to bring research methods and data to life
    • An appreciation of the difference between data and insights, evidenced by an ability to arrive at nuanced understandings through the systematic collection, organization, and analysis of unstructured and qualitative data
    • Demonstrated ability to triangulate data and generate insights across diverse sources, such as web analytics, interviews, social media, observations, internal databases and documents, videos and imagery, etc.
    • Master's in human computer interaction, psychology, human centered design, or a related human behavior field (or comparable experience and bachelor’s)
